Digital Noise Pollution : Is it even a thing?
Nov 5, 2024

All of us have experienced this at some point in time, and some of us experience it all the time- We join various groups on Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and whatever community engagements the multiverse offers because of a shared interest and at the snap of a finger it becomes overwhelming.
Messages zip about at Mach speeds and stealthily pile up in hundreds while you tear yourself away from digital socializing to finish up the work that pays your bills. You come back to your communities in the hope to spend some quality time with the content there but sifting and sieving through those hundreds of useless rants to find that tiny bit of content that you would appreciate seems even more exhausting. The cycle keeps repeating till you are numb to the community interaction and hang around in fringes just in case you may want to connect with one of the other members of the community someday… such days generally do not occur, ever.
It seems like we are all participating in a noisy carnival, all alone.
There is a dense crowd around us but we are not connected to any of the individuals in the crowd.
People are talking to us incessantly without giving us a chance to respond.
Boisterous, judgemental, offense-taker, the crazy fan of political icons, purveyor of useless products, diabetes inducing sweet talker, talkative, meddler, sufferer of attention-deficit disorder, insecure, self-obsessed, and similar variants of Homo sapiens we wanted to escape, and who made us take refuge in the digital world, seem to be now squatting on our digital real estates.
Our digital communities are fractured but we cling to them in a hope that one day they may come handy. They sure may come handy, if only we could filter out the relevant from the noise.
Oftentimes I wished that I had a personal concierge who would sift through the pile of irrelevant communication I gather everyday and handover the ones that are relevant and noteworthy. These would be the communications that add value to me or where I can add value to the communicator.
And then they invented Vouch 😊
